2014-15 Schedule
STATESBORO, Ga. – Three dual meets against ACC competition, a first for the Georgia Southern swimming and diving program, and five meets in the friendly-confines of the RAC Aquatics Center highlight the schedule, announced today by head coach Nate Kellogg.
The Eagles will open the campaign by taking on Georgia Tech and Pitt in Atlanta Saturday, Oct. 18. Georgia Southern hosts Clemson (diving only) and Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) foe UNC Asheville in the Eagles' home opener Nov. 8.
"We have set up a challenging competition schedule with the ultimate goal being to have us prepared for the championship season," said Kellogg. "In order to grow and move our program forward, we need to compete against some of the programs at the next level. With four competitions in January, we will be looking to establish the events that our swimmers and divers will have the biggest impact in at the CCSA Championship in February."
The Eagles host College of Charleston and Savannah College of Art and Design Jan. 17 and CCSA opponent North Florida a week later on Jan. 24. A meet featuring UNC Wilmington, Liberty and College of Charleston caps the regular-season slate Jan. 30-31, and the CCSA Championships are Feb. 18-21 in Athens, Ga. The Eagles have placed third each of the last three seasons.
"The competition at the CCSA Championship has continually gotten faster and deeper over the last seven years, and I don't expect that to change whatsoever," said Kellogg, who begins his 11th campaign at the helm of the program. "Our goals and expectations are extremely high."
