Georgia Southern opens the 2014 campaign where the Eagles saw the 2013 season come to a close. GS lost 3-0 to No. 16 Florida State in the NCAA Tourney at the O'Connell Center in Gainesville last December. Kym Coley led the way with 10 kills for Georgia Southern.
Georgia Southern returns five starters from last season's 28-6 team, which tied the school record for wins in a season.
The Eagles have moved from the Southern Conference, their home for the previous 22 seasons, to the Sun Belt Conference.
Georgia Southern was picked third in the Sun Belt Preseason Coaches Poll, and Jamie DeRatt and Kym Coley each garnered preseason all-league recognition.
