Eagles Open SoCon Tournament on Wednesday

Georgia Southern begins defense of SoCon Tournament Title at 3 p.m.

STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Softball begins defense of its 2012 and 2013 SoCon Tournament Titles on Wednesday afternoon in Greensboro. The Eagles enter the postseason as the No. 1 seed in the tournament which runs Wednesday through Saturday in the heart of North Carolina's Tobacco Road. The double elimination tournament runs through Saturday.

EAGLES RACK UP 10 HONORS
Georgia Southern swept three of the four major SoCon awards on Tuesday when the league announced its postseason awards. The Eagles also tacked on 10 total awards, the highest total among SoCon teams in 2014.

PURVIS WORKING ON BREAKING HER OWN RECORD
Senior pitcher Sarah Purvis is once again closing in on the Georgia Southern single-season strikeouts record. Purvis set the school record in 2012 with 253 strikeouts. Currently Purvis has 247 strikeouts for the season, just six shy of the school record.
