STATESBORO, Ga.- Georgia Southern University swimming and diving head coach Nathan Kellogg hosted the 2013-14 Swimming and Diving Awards Banquet at Bishop Fieldhouse on Saturday evening to honor the accomplishments of his student-athletes for this season.
"This is a special time to get together to recap and share our favorite memories from the year," said Nathan Kellogg. "We are certainly very proud of all that we have accomplished throughout the season and grateful for the support we have received from the university, athletic department, our parents, and staff."
The "Most Improved" award was given to sophomore Lauren Campbell. She made the biggest strides in the level of training, competitiveness, and consistency this season. The "Most Dedicated" award went to someone who had the most outstanding and consistent work ethic, attitude, and character in terms of performance in and out of the pool. Juniors Amber Juncker and Megan Heller earned dual ownership of this honor. The most outstanding diver, or the "Diver of the Year" award, was given to senior Sara Meisenhelder. Sophomore Christina Moran was the recipient of the "Most Valuable" award- the swimmer who contributed the most points and wins in individual and relay events. The "Academic Achievement Award" was received by Megan Ostrom, a senior Exercise Science major and 2014 Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. Megan earned a 4.0 grade point average in the fall of 2013, and a 3.90 cumulative GPA. Hannah Rogers earned the "Eagle Teammate" award. This award went to Hannah because her spirit and team-first attitude contributed to the success of her teammates.
The Eagles held an overall record of 9-3 this season, and finished in third place at the 2014 CCSA Championships.
