Four Eagles Get In More Reps at Georgia Invitational

Additional competition at Georgia Tech may be added to schedule

ATHENS, Ga. – Four members of the Georgia Southern Track & Field team traveled to Athens to compete in the Georgia Invitational today looking to get back into training mod after final exams this week. The Eagles have not competed since the Southern Conference Championships at the end of April.

Junior Jasmin Walker and sophomore Alyssa Felton each participated in two events with Walker posting top-five finishes in both the Long Jump and the 100m Dash. She ran an 11.72 in the 100m Dash, one of her top-three times of the year. Felton finished in the top eight among collegians in the Long Jump and the 100m Hurdles, also posting one of her best times this season.

After competing in nine events at the SoCon meet, Ashleigh Rasheed was focused on one event Saturday, the Triple Jump. The sophomore had a career-best distance 12.26m, but the wind at +2.2 exceeded the allowable maximum for records. Jordan Fordham, one of the three members of the University and SoCon record 4X100m Relay team also ran in the 100m Dash, tying her fourth-best time of the year.

Rain delayed the meet, setting the schedule back for a while at the Spec Towns track facility before getting back underway.

As the rankings for the East Region continue to settle, Georgia Southern may opt to send more Eagles to the Georgia Tech Invitational next weekend for a chance to qualify for the NCAA meet.
