STATESBORO, Ga. – Admission to the Blue-White Spring Football game on Saturday, April 12th, is free, but Georgia Southern Athletics is asking Eagle Nation to bring canned food items to help stock the shelves of the Statesboro Food Bank. The canned goods may be dropped off at the Gate 4 entrance to Paulson Stadium prior to the game. Gates open at 11 a.m. prior to the 12 p.m. kickoff.

Providing emergency food to those in need in Bulloch County, the Statesboro Food Bank sends out a minimum of 12,000 cans per month through its programs. Through references from social services, this non-profit agency helps support more than 100 families locally – offering three meals per day for each member of a family.

In addition to canned items, boxed macaroni and cheese and cereal with a long shelf life are other non-perishable items that are also welcome.
Drives and donations are critical to the on-going operations of the Statesboro Food Bank. Georgia Southern University provides the largest contingent of volunteers to the Statesboro Food Bank as students, faculty and staff almost daily to assist with tasks from stocking the pantry to helping serve occasional hot meals.

The Statesboro Food Bank is located at 400 Donnie Simmons Way in the old Julia P. Bryant Elementary School. Donations can also be made by contacting office manager Jodi Brannon at 912-489-3663 between the hours of 11 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays.
