Georgia Southern caps the regular season at the Mason Rudolph Championships, hosted by Vanderbilt at the Legends South Course. Georgia Southern is coming off a second-place finish at the FAU Slomin Center Invitational last week after winning the Schenkel Invitational, its home tournament, for the first time in school history in mid-March.
The Eagles have played in the Mason Rudolph Championships for the last two seasons. The tournament took place in the fall in 2011 and 2012. It's an extremely difficult field, led by Alabama, which is ranked No. 1 in the Golf World/Nike Coaches Poll. No. 17 Florida State and No. 19 Vanderbilt are also in the field along with the Eagles, who are receiving votes in the top-25.
Georgia Southern will use the same lineup as last week as all five players finished in the top-20 at the FAU Slomin Center Invite.
"We're looking to keep the momentum going this week," said Georgia Southern coach Larry Mays. "This is a course we have enjoyed playing on in the past, and we have some good experience with it. We have to keep getting the total team effort to continue racking up the top finishes."
What's at Stake
The Eagles have put themselves in firm position for an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships for the second straight season, and a top-5 finish this weekend will help solidify a spot. Georgia Southern is also fine-tuning its lineup that will compete in the SoCon Championships at National Golf Club in Pinehurst, N.C., April 20-22.
