Softball Faces Jacksonville in Wednesday Afternoon Doubleheader

Eagles face Dolphins in final home midweek contest

STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Softball begins a run of five-straight non-conference games on Wednesday when Jacksonville University comes to the friendly confines for an afternoon twinbill starting at 4 p.m. Both games can be seen live on GS All-Access at GSEagles.com

PURVIS BREAKING RECORDS
Sarah Purvis has already claimed two major school record this season and has a chance to earn a few more. The senior pitcher from Warner Robins is the career strikeouts and wins leader at Georgia Southern with 57 victories and 669 strikeouts enter the midweek games. Additionally she needs 53 more strikeouts to tie her own single season strikeouts record of 253 strikeouts in the 2012 campaign.

OTHER EAGLES ON PACE
Kourtny Thomas is working on some records of her own entering the stretch run of the regular season. The senior shortstop needs five home runs to match Megen Smith's 2010 mark of 18 home runs. Currently, Thomas has the second-best slugging percentage in school history with a .718 mark for the year. Sue Lanier owns the highest slugging percentage in school history (.737).

ROAD GAMES ON DECK
The Eagles travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. this weekend for a pair of games against Alabama and North Carolina. The Eagles face the Crimson Tide on Friday afternoon and the Tar Heels on Saturday. Following the weekend in the Tar Heel State, Georgia Southern faces South Carolina on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.

EAGLES BACK AT HOME NEXT WEEKEND
Georgia Southern is back at home for Senior Weekend 2014 against Chattanooga on April 26th and 27th. There will be a pregame ceremony before Sunday's series finale to honor the Eagles' seven seniors.
