
GSU Student-Athletes Earn SoCon Academic All-Conference Honors

STATESBORO, Ga.- One hundred sixty student-athletes were named to the Southern Conference Winter Academic All-Conference Team for 2013-14.
To be qualified for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must hold at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA entering the winter season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions during the recently concluded winter season. The student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the last two semesters.
Georgia Southern student-athletes Anna Claire Knight (women's basketball), and Ashleigh Rasheed (women's indoor track and field) have been awarded this honor. Knight, a Sports Management major, carries a 3.80 GPA, and Rasheed, a Political Science major, holds a 4.0.
Ashleigh Rasheed is one of only nine student-athletes that have maintained a 4.0 cumulative grade point average.
Women's indoor track and field leads the SoCon with 79 members selected to the academic all-conference team, followed by men's indoor track and field with 38 selections, and women's basketball with 30.
Appalachian State led the selection with 23 student-athletes represented. Chattanooga (20) and Western Carolina (19) followed closely behind.
