- Georgia Southern returns to action after a 14-day layoff for exams. The Eagles will play two games in the Gator Holiday Classic, hosted by Florida, Dec. 21 and 22.
- Georgia Southern plays Eastern Washington at noon Dec. 21 and either Southern or Florida Dec. 22, at either noon or 2:30 p.m.
- The contests will serve as the final non-conference games for the Eagles this season.
- Sunday's game will be the first meeting between Georgia Southern and Eastern Washington in women's basketball.
- Georgia Southern has lost its last two and is coming off an 84-61 home setback to Mercer Dec. 6. The Eagles have not won away from home this season.
- The Eagles returned eight letterwinners and three starters from last season's squad. Three of the top-5 scorers and rebounders are back for Georgia Southern.
- Senior Anna Claire Knight was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team in the coaches poll, and the Eagles were picked to finish 10th.
- Knight and junior Briana Jones were named Preseason All-Sun Belt by College Sports Madness.
- Knight has 1,082 career points, 444 rebounds and 147 assists. No player in program history has recorded over 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 200 assists for their career.
- Eastern Washington is 3-2 in its last five and coming off a 72-65 home win over Portland Wednesday.
- The Eagles were picked third in the Preseason Big Sky Poll and fifth by the coaches.
- Eastern Washington returned four starters and eight letterwinners from last season, including two-time first-team All-Big Sky selection Lexie Nelson. Also back is Hayley Hodgins, who earned all-league honorable mention accolades.
- Nelson averages 17.4 points a game, and Hodgins averages 17.1 points and 4.4 rebounds.
Series History
- Though it's the first meeting between Georgia Southern and Eastern Washington in women's basketball, the Eagles have a bit of a history with both Southern and Florida.
- Georgia Southern is 2-0 against Southern with the last meeting coming in December of 2005 on a neutral floor at the Coca-Cola Classic in Mobile, Ala. The Eagles squeaked out a 57-53 victory.
- The Eagles are 5-4 in the all-time series against Florida and have lost the last three. The series began in 1976, and Georgia Southern won five of the first six meetings.
- Florida won the last meeting 92-78 in January of 1993. The Eagles' last win came in November of 1987, a 79-68 triumph at home.
