Toys for Tots Promotion Set for Saturday’s Women’s Basketball Game

STATESBORO, Ga. – Fans can bring a new, unwrapped toy to Saturday's women's basketball game against Mercer in Hanner Fieldhouse and receive a $5 general admission ticket to the game (limit one ticket per toy).
Collection boxes will be located at the front gates, and the toys will be donated to less fortunate children in the community. The promotion is part of the campus-wide Toys for Tots campaign conducted by the Georgia Southern University Police Department.
The goal of the Toys for Tots Program is "to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them into becoming responsible, productive and patriotic citizens." For more information, visit ToysForTots.org.
Tipoff for the women's basketball game featuring longtime rivals Georgia Southern and Mercer is set for 4:30 p.m. It's the 62nd meeting between the two programs, which first played in the 1973-74 campaign and used to compete against each other in the NSWAC and TAAC conferences.
The game against the Bears is the Eagles' final home game of the calendar year and last home non-conference contest of the season.
