STATESBORO, Ga. – Women's basketball coach Chris Vozab announced today that Rhein Beamon (Ellenwood, Ga./Stephenson) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Georgia Southern and play for the Eagles, beginning in the 2015-16 season.
A 5-foot-9 guard, Beamon is rated a three-star recruit by ESPN HoopGurlz and helped lead Stephenson High School to the Georgia State Championship AAAAA Elite Eight as a junior in 2013-14. She was a first-team all-region selection at Morrow High School in 2012 and named her team's Most Valuable Player in 2012 and 2013. Beamon averaged 10 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, two blocks and two steals a game as a sophomore at Morrow in 2012-13. Beamon played AAU basketball for the Georgia Hoopstars and coach J.D. Davis.
"Rhein is a vibrant young lady who epitomizes all the values we strive for in our program," said Vozab. "On the court, she is versatile at the guard spot with a great combination of athleticism and skill."
She also competed in volleyball and soccer at Morrow and volleyball at Stephenson. Off the court, Beamon was named to the A-B Honor Roll in each of the last two years.
The Eagles play their home opener Tuesday, Nov. 18, against Jacksonville in Hanner Fieldhouse.
