Georgia Southern is tied with South Alabama for the eighth and final Sun Belt Tournament spot, and the Eagles hold the tiebreaker because they swept the Jags. Georgia Southern needs either two wins this weekend, a combination of a win and a South Alabama loss or two Jaguar losses in order to clinch the spot. The Eagles take on fourth-place UT Arlington and third-place Texas State at home this weekend.
Georgia Southern will honor seniors Jamie DeRatt and Kym Coley prior to Saturday's contest.
DeRatt needs 34 kills and 53 digs to reach 1,000 for her career, which would maker her just the fifth player in school history to have over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.
Coley is 128 kills away from 1,000 for her career and 19 blocks shy of 300.
Coley was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and advances to the national ballot for Capital One All-America honors. The team will be announced in December.
With 37 assists at Georgia State Oct. 8, junior Kat Minnerly passed 2,000 for her career and has moved up to sixth on the school's list, 72 helpers shy of fifth. She has tallied 50-plus assists in a match 10 times in her three seasons as an Eagle.
The Eagles faced three top-20 teams and six opponents from Power-5 conferences in their 10 non-conference matches this season.
