
Day Two Of The Georgia Southern Championships Complete

Day Three Gets Underway Tomorrow At 9 a.m.
Statesboro, Ga. – On day two of the Georgia Southern Championships, the Eagles have put themselves in position to win flights after the final day of competition tomorrow. The Wallis Tennis Center is playing host to five total teams as part of the three-day competition. Florida Atlantic, Kennesaw State, Ut-Chattanooga, Savannah College of Art & Design, and the host Eagles are competing in a flighted round robin format. Day two saw action in both singles and doubles competition.
"We competed well today and put ourselves in position to win a few flights on Sunday," commented Head Coach Nick Zieziula. "Our fitness level has been very strong so we are looking forward to competing tomorrow."
In A flight doubles action, the tandem of Codina Sala/Kerrigan went 2-0 on the day with victories over Durham/Wendel of Kennesaw State 8-6 and Dubuque/Mclean of Florida Atlantic 8-4.
The B Doubles duo of Thompson/Casablancas won their only match of the day with a commanding 8-0 victory over McCoy/White of Savannah College of Art and Design.
Teammates De Groof/Landin fell 0-2 on day two in A flight Doubles after being defeated by Dubuque/Mclean of Florida Atlantic 7-8(4) and Valencia/Castellanos of Kennesaw State 3-8.
In A flight singles, teammates Eduaro Landin and Albert Codina Sala are tied at the top of the standings with a 2-1 record for the tournament. Codina Sala fell in straight sets to Alejandro Valencia 4-6, 4-6 on day two while Landin defeated Zandrix Acob of Florida Atlantic 6-3, 6-3.
Daniel Casablancas is tied for the lead in D flight singles after moving to 3-0 in the tournament. Today, Casablancas soundly defeated Will George of Kennesaw State 6-1, 6-3.
In E flight singles, Robbie Thompson battled Florida Atlantic's Stefan Burnett but fell 3-6, 3-6 to move to 1-2 overall in the tournament.
Nico De Groof is 0-3 for the tournament in B flight singles after suffering a setback to Kennesaw State's Jorge Wilton 4-6, 4-6. In C flight singles, Pradeep Raja was defeated by Manuel Castellanos of Kennesaw State 0-6, 3-6 to fall to 0-3 overall for the tournament.
