STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Women's Soccer is set for their final home stand of the season as they compete against Texas State and Appalachian State. While the Eagles have lost three straight on the road, they will look to change momentum in front of the home crowd.
The contest with Texas State starts at 7 p.m. Friday night from Eagle Field on the campus of Georgia Southern. Live video streaming and live stats will be available at www.gseagles.com
On Sunday, the Eagles will battle Appalachian State University at 1 p.m. on Senior Day. This marquee match-up will also be the GATA game for women's soccer. "We're really looking forward to this weekend, Texas State and App State are two really strong teams," commented Head Coach
Brian Dunleavy. "There is so much to play for in terms of playoff seeding. All three teams are right in the thick of it, we could finish as high as 2nd place, and that's our aim right now."

TOP OF THE LEAGUE BATTLESAfter their first seven games of league play, Georgia Southern is currently tied for 3rd in the league table. Friday's match will mark the first time in program history that the Eagles have taken on Texas State who are currently ranked 2nd in the league. Senior day will be Sunday before the match against the Appalachian State Mountaineers who are tied with Georgia Southern in the league standings.
MERSON EARNS SHUTOUT RECORDAgainst Alabama State,
Katie Merson inked her name in the Georgia Southern record books by breaking the school record with her 17th career shutout. She also helped out offensively, earning her first offensive assist on
Jennifer Wittick's goal to put the Eagles 3-0 up.
FIRST BIG TEN WINGeorgia Southern Women's Soccer captured its first win over a Big Ten Conference foe with a 2-1 victory over Indiana in the second week of the season.
Melinda Lukas scored two goals in the victory with marks in the fifth and 21st minutes.
SENIOR DAY AND GATA GAME SET FOR OCT. 26The 2014 Women's Soccer Senior Day and GATA Game is set for October 26th against Appalachian State. The marquee contest is a chance for all Georgia Southern student-athletes to come together and support each other.
