"We were leading a couple sets when we played UL Lafayette at their place, and we just weren't able to finish," said Georgia Southern coach
Dustin Wood. "We didn't execute, and we knew we needed to execute better coming into today. We executed and finished the match today, and I think that's something we're starting to learn - how to finish matches."
Trailing 24-21 in the fourth set, the Eagles scored three straight points with the help of an ace by Coley and a block by Minnerly and
Leah Joseph. After Mossakowski put down a kill, Georgia Southern fought off another set point as DeRatt got a kill. With the score tied 27-27, the Ragin' Cajuns put a serve into the net, and Mossakowski's attack sailed long to end the match.
With the match tied 1-1, the Eagles pushed a 15-14 advantage into a 22-14 cushion as Coley served for six straight points. The senior middle had two of her three aces during the run, while Joseph tallied a solo block and a kill.Â
