
Swimming and Diving Senior Spotlight: Sara Meisenhelder

STATESBORO, Ga.- Diver Sara Meisenhelder has had an extremely successful career as a student-athlete here at Georgia Southern. The exercise science major holds both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving records at Georgia Southern, and is a 5-time All-CCSA Diver. In 2012, Sara was named CCSA "Diver of the Year" and earned GSU's "Diver of the Year" award the last three seasons. She is the first GSU diver to be a 2-time NCAA Zone qualifier.
We asked Sara a few questions about her time here at Southern:
1. What is one of the most memorable moments you've experienced during your diving career here at Georgia Southern?
The most memorable experience I have had was receiving the honor of being named the female conference (CCSA) diver of the year 2011-2012.
2. How did you become interested in diving?
I became interested in diving when I was 9 years old. My aunt dove when she was in high school and recommended I start taking lessons and the rest has been history!
3. What's the most valuable thing you've learned from your coaches?
They have taught me that success is earned through hard work and team efforts.
4. What's your favorite Georgia Southern tradition?
My favorite Georgia Southern tradition is going to football games at Paulson on Saturdays.
5. What are your career goals after college?
My goals after college so far include completing my physical therapy internship this summer and applying for physical therapy school this year!
