On the Range
Georgia Southern opens the 2013-14 campaign at the Fightin' Irish Gridiron Classic. The Eagles are coming off a campaign which saw them earn their 21st bid to the NCAA Championships, 10th under head coach
Larry Mays and fourth in the last five seasons.
Many Eagles had a busy summer on the links, but none were busier than
Scott Wolfes, who advanced to the round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur Championships in Brookline, Mass. Wolfes has been named a top-50 Player to Watch this season by Golf World. The junior was the Southern Conference Golfer of the Year and an all-region selection in 2013.
Mays also had a busy summer as it was announced in September that Georgia Southern will add a women's golf program, which will begin competition in the 2015-16 season. Mays will be promoted to the Director of Golf/Head Men's Coach, where he will oversee both programs.
Carter Collins has been promoted to Associate Head Men's Coach.
