Eagle Athletics under construction

STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern's journey to the Sun Belt includes numerous construction projects around campus. Keep an eye on Georgia Southern Athletics' social media channels for updates on what is being done around the University's athletics facilities.
Paulson Stadium Expansion and Operations Building
Construction at Paulson Stadium has been in full force throughout the summer with new sections on the lower level nearing completion for the 2013 season opener on August 31st. The new seats on the student side of the stadium will add approximately 1,500 seats to the capacity of Paulson. Site preparation for the Football Operations Center is ongoing with construction on schedule.
Men's Basketball Coaches Offices and Locker Rooms
The current men's basketball offices and locker room have been gutted to allow for the construction of a new men's basketball suite. The new area will include offices for all four coaches and the operations director, new locker room, team meeting area and a staff meeting area within the same footprint as the old area. The new rooms are expected to be ready by the middle of September.
Women's Volleyball Locker Rooms
Women's Volleyball will see their locker rooms move this fall to utilize a new area of Hanner Fieldhouse. The Eagles will dress in a new area which features twice the room, new lockers, a player lounge and a big screen television for film study. The locker room is located near the old gym in the Hanner Fieldhouse complex.
Women's Basketball Locker Rooms
The Georgia Southern Women's Basketball team will take over some of the space vacated by the Volleyball team to expand their locker room area and add showers. The team will also now have new lockers and new flooring installed as part of the upgrade.
Game Operations Offices Created
In addition to the expansion of the Women's Basketball Locker Rooms, an office is being created in Hanner Fieldhouse to house the Game Operations Department. These new offices will allow Brandon Cox and his staff easy access to the Hanner Fieldhouse floor.
ROTC Rifle Range Upgrades
Georgia Southern Athletics is also improving on the ROTC's Rifle Range on campus to bring the facility up to NCAA competition specifications. The additions include construction of a roof over the entire facility as well as the addition of electrical outlets and lighting. The Eagles will be able to compete in the facility while the University's Shooting Sports Education Center is being built.
Hanner Tennis Courts Scoreboard
Gone will be the days of squinting to read manual scoreboards on each court at the Hanner Tennis Courts. This year a new digital scoreboard will be constructed thanks to a generous donation by Tim Wallis. The new scoreboard will feature set scoring for each court which will be controlled by the players between games, giving fans a new way to watch tennis at Georgia Southern.
