STATESBORO, Ga. – The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has named Georgia Southern a Scholar All-America team for the spring 2013 semester.
It's the 11th consecutive semester Georgia Southern has earned the honor; the Eagles have been named a Scholar All-America Team each and every semester since the award's inception in 2008.
"Being recognized as a Scholar All-America Team once again is an honor for our program," said head coach Nathan Kellogg. "To have outstanding student-athletes who earn national distinction for their commitment to their academics and performances in the pool is always one of our biggest goals for this program, and I am very proud of our swimmers and divers for achieving that goal."
The Georgia Southern swimmers and divers posted an impressive 3.39 grade point average for the spring, and 26 Eagles were named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll for posting a 3.0 grade point average or better for the 2012-13 academic year. Four posted perfect 4.0 grade point averages, the most of any program at Georgia Southern, and 12 made the school's Dean's List with GPAs above 3.5.
As a whole, Georgia Southern's student-athletes combined to notch a 3.03 grade point average in the spring, and 194 Eagles posted a 3.0 or better.
