Women's Tennis Blanked by Kansas

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Georgia Southern Women's Tennis fell to Kansas University, 4-0, on Thursday afternoon at the Spring Break Tennis tournament at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort. The Eagles managed to win one doubles match but fell in three consecutive singles before leaving the other three unfinished.
Sophomore Jordana Klein and junior Caitlin Kitchen earned their fourth consecutive doubles win after only starting partnering up less than a week ago. The tandem defeated Victoria Khanevskaya and Anastasija Trubica 8-7 on court three to stay perfect in doubles action.
Senior-freshman duo Natalie Maffett and Stephanie Woods came close to a win on court two but fell 8-6 to Paulina Los and Maria Belen Luduena with the overall doubles point going to the Jayhawks as well.
The Eagles (6-8, 2-3 SoCon) followed up doubles play with three losses in singles on courts two, four and six, giving Kansas the overall win. Garrido, Woods and Maffett left their matches on court one, three and five unfinished after the match had already been determined.
The Jayhawks improve to 7-3 on the year.
The Eagles get back into conference play on Monday, March 25 with a home match against Elon at 2 p.m.
