STATESBORO, Ga. -- The Georgia Southern Women's Tennis team is celebrating spring break slightly different than most of the student body. The Eagles are headed to Hilton Head, S.C. not to lay on the beach but to play tennis matches against Nebraska Omaha and Kansas at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort.
"The team is looking forward to playing some strong non-conference opponents this week. Its always a great experience for the team to play against schools we don't normally come across. Both teams, UNO and Kansas, are tough opponents and we need to come ready to play," said Head Coach Amy Bonner.
On Wednesday, the Eagles face off with University of Nebraska Omaha at 11:30 a.m. The Mavericks stand 3-5 and hold a 1-1 Summit League record.
On Thursday, also at 11:30 a.m., the Eagles take on Kansas who are 5-3 on the year.
The Eagles (5-7) are coming off a conference weekend split with Davidson (6-1) and Appalachian State (1-6) and currently stand 2-2 in conference play. The squad will continue their conference schedule against Elon on Monday, March 25 at 2 p.m. at the Hanner Tennis Complex in Statesboro, Ga.
