STATESBORO, Ga. -- The Georgia Southern Women’s Tennis squad has been using this week to prepare themselves for a Saturday-Sunday home slate against in state rivals. The Eagles take on Kennesaw State on Saturday and continue a three match home stand with Mercer on Sunday at the Hanner Tennis Complex. Both matches start at noon.
“We’ve had a great week of practice to prepare for our two home matches this weekend. We have Kennesaw State Saturday and Mercer Sunday, so two in state rivals,” said Head Coach Amy Bonner. “We’ve been working hard and just fine-tuning those little details that we needed to work on after our two tough matches on the road last week.”
The Eagles are coming off a tough weekend on the road where they took on UAB and No. 68 Auburn. Senior Natalie Maffett and freshman Stephanie Woods were able to pick up wins against UAB at the number five and four spot respectively.
After this weekend, the Eagles will start conference play at home on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. against College of Charleston before hitting the road for three consecutive matches.
