Statesboro, Ga. – The Georgia Southern Track and Field team opens its 2013-14 indoor season Friday, December 6th at the BSC Panther Indoor Icebreaker in Birmingham at the Crossplex. Fifteen Eagles will compete in the meet which will feature more than 35 collegiate teams and 500 student-athletes.
The Birmingham Crossplex features a six-lane 200-meter hydraulically banked track designed by Mondo, one of only eight in the world. Friday's meet will be the first time the Eagles have competed on a banked track in quite some time and they will return to the Birmingham Crossplex to compete in Samford's two-day meet in early February.
"This first meet allows us to see where we are after our initial training," said Track and Field Coach Marlo Mincey. "We haven't been tapering for performance and we won't have fresh legs,, but this is about mental preparation, getting our team ready, get them in the atmosphere and providing some feedback."
