¦ Georgia Southern caps a four-game road trip, its longest of the season, by taking on long-time in-state rival Mercer Wednesday night.
¦ The Eagles have lost their last four and are coming off an 82-79 setback against Detroit in the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament Saturday afternoon.
¦ Junior Anna Claire Knight leads GSU in scoring at 14.1 points a game and has scored in double figures six times this season.
¦ Sophomore Briana Jones is averaging 8.0 points and 9.4 rebounds and has two double-doubles, while senior Danielle Spencer is also averaging 9.4 rebounds a game.
¦ MiMi DuBose, who is averaging 8.6 points a contest, enters the game third in all-time 3-pointers (147) at Georgia Southern, 20 away from first, held by Svetlana Trjeskal (1995-99). The senior is 79 points away from 1,000 for her career.DuBose is 11 games played away from 100 for her career.

¦ Mercer leads the all-time series 31-29, but Georgia Southern has won six of the last seven.
¦ Mercer defeated Georgia Southern 48-44 in the last meeting in December of 2012 in Hanner Fieldhouse.
¦ The Eagles and Bears first met in the 1973-74 campaign, the first season of women's basketball at Georgia Southern.
¦ The teams have met 60 times over the years, and will play for the fifth consecutive season.
¦ Georgia Southern and Mercer competed against each other as members of the NSWAC and TAAC until the Eagles joined the SoCon in 1991.
¦ Mercer won the first 10 meetings of the series.
¦ Last meeting (12/7/12): For the second consecutive season, the women's basketball game between Georgia Southern and Mercer went down to the wire, but this time, the Bears pulled out the 48-44 victory behind a career-high 29 points from Precious Bridges.
¦ Bridges scored nine of the Bears' last 10 points to hold off the Eagles and finished the game 12-of-31 shooting from the floor and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
¦ With the shot clock winding down and the Bears clinging to a 42-40 lead, Bridges buried a 3-pointer from the wing with under a minute left in the game. Eagle guard Anna Claire Knight drove to the basket, hit a runner and was fouled for a 3-point play, but Bridges hit an elbow jumper with a hand in her face with 24 seconds remaining to extend the margin back to four.
¦ Knight missed a layup for the Eagles but got her own rebound and was fouled. She made 1-of-2 from the line, and the Eagles, trailing by three, fouled Sharmesia Smith with 10 seconds left. Smith sank the first end of the one-and-one to seal the victory.
¦ MiMi DuBose scored 18 points to lead Georgia Southern, and Danielle Spencer scored 12 points to go along with five rebounds. Knight finished with 10 points and five boards.
¦ Kendra Grant collected eight points and six rebounds for the Bears, and Smith tallied seven points and a game-high 17 rebounds, including 11 on the offensive glass. Teanna Robinson posted 10 rebounds and six blocked shots.
¦ Last time at Mercer: Anna Claire Knight hit a buzzer beater to lift Georgia Southern to a 57-55 win at Mercer in 2011.
¦ Georgia Southern held a 55-53 lead with 21 seconds remaining in the half, but Alicia Williams drained a floater in the paint to tie the contest at 55-55 with 6.2 seconds remaining.
¦ Meredyth Frye drove down the court with six seconds remaining and dished the ball to Knight, who was unguarded outside the paint near the baseline.
¦  Frye posted 17 points to lead the Eagles and pulled down seven rebounds.
¦ Knight and DuBose each scored eight.
¦ Bridges scored 14 points to lead Mercer, and Williams scored 12.
