STATESBORO, Ga. – "By the Numbers" spotlights each week some of the interesting statistics, rankings and milestones as they relate to the Georgia Southern Football program.

Number of career first touchdowns in Saturday's game, the first by Nardo Govan in his first year playing with the Eagles, and the second by redshirt freshman Irving Huggins. Eagle quarterback Kevin Ellison handed off to Govan on his sixth career carry for his score and Huggins scored on his 30th career rushing attempt.

Twenty-two student-athletes will be recognized prior to Saturday's Homecoming and Senior Day for their final season as Eagles: William Banks, Robert Brown, Johnathan Bryant, Dorian Byrd, Carlos Cave, Luke Cherry, Josh Gebhardt, Torrance Hunt, Allen Lee, Zach Lonas, Javonte Martin, Jerick McKinnon, Bryant Meeks, Javon Mention, Kyle Oehlbeck, Blake Riley, Josh Rowe, Darius Safford, Michael Shealy, Michael Spaulding, Lavelle Westbrooks

Georgia Southern and Western Carolina have played 23 previous times with the Eagles holding a 21-2 lead in the series. The first game took place in Cullowhee in 1941, the final season of play for the Georgia Teachers College team before the U.S. entry into World War II. The Eagles and Catamounts met in 1987 and 1991 before beginning annual meetings as members of the Southern Conference in 1993.

NCAA record for most points scored in the fourth quarter in a winning effort with the Eagles scoring that number with 10:45 remaining in the 2008 game at Western Carolina. Georgia Southern trailed 31-3 at that point and rallied with two touchdown receptions by Raja Andrews, a Jarrell Crawford touchdown run and Tim Camp reception with 32 seconds left in the game. Adam Urbano scrambled for a 25-yard touchdown run and the Eagle defense, with a sack and tackle for loss by Dakota Walker, kept Western Carolina from scoring for the win.

Junior running back Tray Butler's 42-yard punt return last Saturday tied the season-long mark for that statistical category. Butler averages 20.2 yards per return this season. tied Brandan Thomas also had a 42-yard return, his coming against St. Francis (Pa.) earlier this season.

Eagle Head Coach Jeff Monken has the highest winning percentage of any of the Southern Conference coaches for both his overall career record of 25-16 (68.6) and his SoCon record of 20-10 (66.7).

Since the return of the triple option in 2010, Georgia Southern has an 84.6 winning percentage at home with 22 wins against only four losses. The Eagles have 175 wins at Paulson Stadium since its first season in 1984.

As of last week, the GATA Club Reunion has reservations for 150 former Eagle student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers and managers for this weekend's All-Sports Reunion. "GATA – Getting Athletes Together Again" is the mission for this weekend's inaugural event. The deadline to RSVP is November 6th to receive two complimentary tickets to the Men's Basketball game Friday night and for a complimentary ticket to Saturday's Football game. Quarterback Jerick McKinnon is within striking distance of 1,000 rushing yards for the 2013 season and currently stands at 857. The senior has posted five games this season with 100 or more yards rushing including his best game of the season with 198 yards rushing and two receptions vs. The Citadel.

Western Michigan will be the Eagles' first-ever non-conference FBS guest in Paulson Stadium in 2015, as announced by Georgia Southern Director of Athletics Tom Kleinlein Monday. Kleinlein negotiated a home-and-home series with the Broncos with the Eagles returning the trip in 2016.
