STATESBORO, Ga.- Georgia Southern women's soccer hosts Francis Marion University for a GATA game this Thursday at 7pm. The Eagles are 2-7-2 overall and 1-2-1 in league play. FMU's Patriots are 0-11 on the season.
Last time out, the Eagles battled Western Carolina to lose a close game 2-1.
Nora El-Shami scored the first goal of the game and her second of the season early on in the game. GSU was able to keep the Catamounts at bay until late in the game, when they equalized the scoreboard with 26 minutes left. WCU's Caitlyn Bradham managed to give the Catamounts the win, slipping one by GSU's goalkeeper
Molly Williams with just 6 minutes remaining in regulation.
Francis Marion's women's soccer team is struggling this season with a 0-11 record. Last time they hit the field, the Patriots were defeated by Elon 6-1. The Elon Phoenix outshot the Patriots 17-6, and held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Brittany Smith scored one for the Patriots, a header off of a corner kick from Lexxis Cherry, with just 39 seconds left in regulation.
When asked what they were going to do to prepare for Thursday's game, Eagles Head Coach
Brian Dunleavy said, "We need to change our mental approach. We have a talented team with a solid foundation, and we work hard. We are working on staying focused and confident for the entire 90 minutes."
