
Rifle Earns Program's First Win

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Georgia Southern women's rifle team earned its first win in program history today, Sunday Oct. 27. Georgia Southern defeated the Wofford Terriers 2234-2232 in Charleston, S.C.
The Eagles topped their season high air rifle score from Saturday, improving it 33 points, to post the first victory under Head Coach Tim Parks. All five shooters posted a 548 or better in the match, the first time that has happened this season.
Tori Lewis led the team with a score of 568, her best score this season. Kathryn Youngblood was right behind her with a score of 567. Ale Shortridge's 550 and Emmy Johnson's 549 were the other two counters for GSU on the day.
Jim Stanley posted a meet-high 569 to lead the Terriers. Tommy McKelvey shot a 563, Josh Mangan a 554 and Erin Lee a 546 to compose Wofford's team score.
Georgia Southern will have a week off before traveling to Dahlonega, Ga. To face North Georgia. It will be the second time the Eagles will face UNG after competing against them in the North Georgia Invitational on Sept. 28.
