Eagles look for second-straight win in Burlington
STATESBORO, Ga. – After four-straight games at home, Georgia Southern Men's Soccer is at Elon for the first of two Southern Conference contests this week. The Eagles take on the Phoenix on Tuesday night from 7 p.m.
The Eagles face their first ranked opponent of the season with Tuesday's trip to the Tar Heel State. Elon enters the match ranked No. 25 in the most recent NSCAA Coaches Poll. Georgia Southern is 4-7-0 on the year with an 0-2 league mark. Elon is 9-2-1 and 1-1 in the SoCon.

The Eagles trail the all-time series 8-3, but took a victory two years ago in the last trip to Elon. GSU lost twice to Elon last season and has been eliminated from the SoCon Tournament by the Phoenix in each of the last two seasons. Georgia Southern dropped a 1-0 result last season at the SoCon Tournament in Cary, N.C.

Georgia Southern got a goal just before halftime from Witt Carlisle, but surrendered two in the second half to fall to Georgia State on Friday. Carlisle now has a team-high four goals this season for the Eagles.
Neal Bates has shined this season in goal with 67 saves between the pipes. The senior ranks fifth nationally in total saves and sixth in saves per game. He boasts a .807 save percentage which ranks 42nd in the NCAA.

Elon is averaging 1.75 goals per game, scoring 21 total goals this season. The prodigious scoring has been helped by the play of Matt Wescoe who has seven assists to rank third nationally.
