Eagle Swimming and Diving Comes up Short against UNF

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- In a Saturday afternoon clash at the University of North Florida (7-2), The Georgia Southern Swimming and Diving team (6-3) just came up short as they lost 142-101. The Eagles were able to win five out of the 13 events.
“We performed fairly well,” said Head Coach Nathan Kellogg. “But we were outraced and out touched a few too many times which cost us the win.”
It took the Eagles a little while to get warmed up, as their first win did not come until the fourth event, the 50 Free. Elaina Lanson out swam her UNF opponent Janie Kennedy by almost a second with a time of 24.36. Megan Heller came in at a close third with a time of 25.54. Lanson came out on top again in the 100 Free, finishing in 53.55.
The Eagles performed well in the 200 Back, claiming three spots in the top five. Christina Moran led the squad, finishing first in 206.61. Sarah Schwartz (2:10.85) and Meg Beasley (2:15.77) finished second and fifth respectively.
Kylee Parsons earned full points for the Eagles in the 500 Free (5:06.78) and Amber Juncker came in second (5:09.86).
Sara Meisenhelder excelled again in the three-meter dive, earning 270.82 points, the most for her this season.
The Eagles return to action next weekend with back-to-back meets at Gardner Webb on Saturday, Feb. 1 and Davidson on Sunday, Feb. 2.
