STATESBORO, Ga. – In their last home meet of the season, the Georgia Southern Swimming and Diving team (5-2) take on UNC Asheville (2-4) on Jan. 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Recreation Activity Center. The Eagles will also celebrate the careers of four seniors.
Emily Fell, Pirie Humphries, Alden Lynch and Lindsay Mullican will all compete in their last meet at the RAC on Saturday.
"Our seniors have been a very special group and we are eager to recognize them for their contributions to our program,” said Head Coach Nathan Kellogg. “They have been exceptional student-athletes in and out of the pool and their leadership has been tremendously helpful to the other classes so we certainly want to send them out with a win."
The seniors and the rest of the team had an excellent performance last week against Darton College. In a 171-55 home victory, 10 different Eagles improved their personal bests including junior Diver Sara Meisenhelder, who qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships with a school and pool record breaking one-meter dive, scoring 281.70. She earned CCSA Diver of the Week honors, Jan. 16, for her effort.
Saturday’s event will also mark the first time ever that these conference foes compete in a dual meet.
After this weekend, the Eagles will conclude the regular season with three more meets in the next two weeks to prepare for the CCSA Championships on Feb. 21-23.
