STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Softball has begun construction on a new hitting facility which will replace the old batting cages beyond the right field fence. Construction is expected to be completed in November.
“The team and I are very excited to have this new hitting facility completed this fall,” said head coach Annie Smith. “It’s great to see the work going on. This will be a great addition for our program and to Eagle Field.”
The state of the art facility covers a footprint 80 feet long by 50 feet wide and features nets which can be adjusted into multiple configurations. One set-up will allow as many as six players to hit at the same time in separate tunnels. The facility also features overhead lighting and electrical outlets for pitching machines.
Georgia Southern Softball opens the fall season on Sunday, September 30th, with a doubleheader against South Georgia and Armstrong Atlantic starting at 1 p.m. from Eagle Field.
