STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Men’s Soccer is back in action on Saturday night with a trip to Jacksonville to face the winless Dolphins. The Eagles fell earlier this week to No. 16 Wake Forest, 3-1 to drop their fourth-straight match and fall to 2-5 on the year. Jacksonville boasts a 0-6-1 overall record with a draw at the-regionally ranked UCF. Saturday’s match begins at 7 p.m. in the Ashley Sports Complex.
Drew Ruggles got on the scoresheet on Tuesday evening for the Eagles. His free kick goal in the 41st minute cut the Demon Deacon advantage to 2-1 approaching halftime. His second goal of the year moves him into a tie for third place on the 2012 GSU scoring chart. Ruggles trails Reed Norton and Joe Hughes who have three goals each this year.
The Dolphins have scored just three goals this year with two coming in the draw to UCF. Nick Rodriguez scored the first two goals of the year for JU and assisted on the third for five points this year.
GSU trails Jacksonville 5-10-3 in the all-time series and looks for its first win over the Dolphins since the 2001 season.
The Eagles reach the halfway point of their seven-match road swing next Wednesday with a trip to Presbyterian College. The match from Clinton, S.C. starts at 6 p.m.
