Purvis Named SoCon Pitcher of the Month for May

TATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Softball's Sarah Purvis capped off an impressive sophomore season by earning Southern Conference Pitcher of the Month honors for the month of May as announced on Thursday by the league office.
Purvis, a native of Warner Robins, Ga., earned five wins in the month on her way to earning SoCon Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors. She set a new school record with a 23-12 overall record and 253 total strikeouts.
In the month, Purvis fanned 49 batters and worked with a 1.27 ERA, recording three shutouts and eight appearances. She held opposing batters to a .156 average.
