Men's Tennis Travels to Charleston

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern Men’s Tennis team will hit the road for Charleston as it prepares for a Monday bout with the Cougars. First serve is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m. The match will also serve as Senior Day for the Cougar squad.
The Eagles (1-18, 0-8 SoCon) are hoping to come out of their two off-weeks rested and healthy. They are looking to rebound after two close losses at Furman and Wofford. Andrew Dromsky (Martinez, Ga.) and Marco Osorio (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) registered singles victories in each of the two contests with three of their four matches going to three sets. Dromsky and doubles partner Alain Garrido (Vigo, Spain) also won both of their matches at No. 1 doubles on the road trip. Garrido, the senior captain of the Eagles, was recently named Georgia Southern Men’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year for his outstanding work on the court and in the classroom.
The College of Charleston Cougars are atop the SoCon standings with a 12-3 record on the season and an unblemished 6-0 mark in conference play. The only three losses they have suffered have come to ranked opponents: Clemson, Georgia State and South Carolina. The Cougars are currently riding a five-match winning streak with wins over Samford, Chattanooga, UNC Asheville, UNC Greensboro and Furman. The Cougars are the defending regular season co-champions of the SoCon and runners-up of the SoCon tournament. The Eagles are 27-15 all-time against the Cougars but have lost two straight meetings. However, Matthijs Verdam (Hilversum, The Netherlands) has notched a three-set singles victory in each of those two contests.
