Somers, Wi. - Georgia Southern's Kristen Bates (Peachtree City, Ga.) was named to the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Mid-Major All-American Honorable Mention.
The award recognizes the top swimmers from mid-major conferences. The sophomore is the first Georgia Southern swimmer to be honored by the CSCAA, and is one of only two swimmers from the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) to be honored by the CSCAA this season.
Bates set the school record in the 100 Breaststroke as she took first place in the event at the CCSA Championship Meet. The first place finish was one of three visits to the podium for Bates as she helped lead the Eagles to a third place finish in the Championship Meet.
