Lazarova notched the second point of the afternoon for the Phoenix when she downed Kitchen at No. 2 singles. Jansaker put Elon up 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles over Allison Beeler (Alpharetta, Ga.). Camara Ruiz clinched the match victory for the Phoenix when she ousted Alessandra Dzuba (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) at No. 5 singles. Viviana Stavreva and Berne added wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles over Williams and Maffett to extend Elon's point total to six for the match. Garrido was the lone singles victor for the Eagles when she took her match to overtime and downed Johnston in a third-set match tiebreaker, 6-3, 2-6, 11-9.
The Eagles will look to rebound when they return home for a Saturday bout against Davidson. Their second-to-last home match is slated to begin at 11 a.m. at Hanner Tennis Complex.
