Lady Eagles Win Pack the House in Pink Challenge

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Women's Basketball team won the 2012 Pack the House in Pink Challenge for the Southern Conference after hosting 1,329 fans on January 21st. The top crowd in the SoCon went home happy after the Lady Eagles won their second-straight game by one point over Western Carolina.
GSU partnered with the Statesboro Service League and Zeta Tau Alpha sorrority to help promote the event and drape Hanner Fieldhouse in pink.
"In the fifth year of this initiative, we are pleased to see the continued increase in attendance, excitement and exposure for our women's basketball programs," said Greg Christopher, chair of the Division I Women's Basketball Committee and director of athletics at Bowling Green State University. "The year-in and year-out success of Pack the House is a direct tribute to the commitment level put forth by the personnel at each campus. These efforts continue to help grow the game."
The challenge drew in over 431,000 fans at 153 participating institutions and awards one school from each Division I conference with a $500 donation to a nonprofit organization of their choice. Georgia Southern's donation will be going to the Susan G Kommen Foundation to support the fight against breast cancer.
Georgia Southern earned the 41-40 win behind 9 points and six rebounds from Anna Claire Knight (Dublin, Ga.). Jordi Cook (Tunnel Hill, Ga.) added eight points, and MiMi DuBose (Jefferson, Ga.) tallied seven points to help the Lady Eagles shot 42.9% from the floor.
