Eagles Match Highest Finish Ever in CCSA

Athens, Ga. - Georgia Southern Swimming & Diving tied its highest finish ever in the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Championship Meet on Saturday. The Eagles finished third in the CCSA Championships with a total of 477.5 point. They finished behind only first-place Florida Gulf Coast's 840 points, and Liberty's 538.5 points.
Sara Meisenhelder (Carmel, Ind.) continued her record-breaking season on Saturday as well. Meisenhelder broke her own record in the 3 Meter Dive with a score a 290.05 and took second place. The dive puts her in zone cut, the first step to getting to the NCAA Championships. The sophomore also earned the Female Diver of the Year in the CCSA.
Three more Georgia Southern school records fell on Saturday. Amber Juncker (Bogart, Ga.) broke the record for the 1650 Free with a time of 17:04.70 and a fourth place finish. Courtney Harrison (Greenville, S.C.) then broke the school record for the 200 Breaststroke clocking a time of 2:18.17 and a first-place finish. Harrison was followed by Kristen Bates (Peachtree City, Ga.), who came in second with a time of 2:18.52.
The 400 Free Relay team also broke a school record on Saturday with a third place finish. The team of Kristen Bates, Devan White (Kennesaw, Ga.), Katie Crider (Bloomington, Ind.) and Elaina Lanson (Wadsworth, Ohio) clocked a time 3:27.57 on their way into the record books.
Elaina Lanson also brought home third in the 100 Free with a time of 50.38 and fourth in the 50 Free with 23.05. Sarah Schwartz (Greenwood, S.C.) took fourth in the 200 Back with a time of 2:02.99.
"We had a tremendous meet. I'm absolutely ecstatic with our women and how they stepped up and performed for each other. Couldn't be more pleased with how we did this week," said Head Coach Nate Kellogg. " We set nine school records and were on the podium quite a bit. We're really happy and I couldn't be more proud."
Next the Eagles will see who makes it to the NCAA Championships, which will be held at Auburn on March 15.
