Statesboro, Ga. – Georgia Southern Swimming and Diving team (10-5) will travel to Athens, Ga. to compete in the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Championship Meet Feb 16-18. The Eagles' toughest competition will be Florida Gulf Coast, Liberty and Davidson, the only conference foes GSU lost to during the season.
GSU was last in the pool two weeks ago (Jan 28) when they competed at Davidson. The Eagles went 4-2 in the seven team dual-meet. The Eagles had three first place finishes, by Amber Juncker (Bogart, Ga.) and Sara Meisenhelder (Carmel, Ind.). Junker took first in both the 1000 Free and 500 Free, while Meisenhelder placed first in the 3 Meter Dive. To go along with their first place finishes, the Eagles added six more top three times.
The Eagles have had two weeks to practice and prepare for the meet, and are going into to the weekend with confidence.
“We are certainly ready for the CCSA Championship meet. Our women are excited to compete,” said Head Coach Nate Kellogg. “We have three simple goals for our team: perform well, compete for each other, and have fun.”
The Eagles will look to improve on their fourth place finish in last year's Championship Meet. Last season's CCSA Championship meet saw three Eagles receive All-Conference accolades. GSU hopes to see even more this weekend.
