Men’s Soccer Earns Fourth Seed for SoCon Tournament

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Sunday afternoon Georgia Southern Men’s Soccer returns to the pitch for the final time at home, opening the 2012 Southern Conference Tournament against UNCG. The Eagles took a big win on the final day of the regular season, 2-1 in overtime against College of Charleston to earn the home playoff game. The win also denied the Cougars the top-seed in the tournament.
Sunday’s game starts at 4 p.m. from Eagle Field. The Eagles downed the Spartans 4-1 in the regular season, sparking a run which saw the Eagles go from worst to fourth in four matches. GSU won three of its last four games in the regular season to close the regular season.
The winner of Sunday’s game advances to the SoCon Tournament Semifinals on Thursday, November 8th. The semifinal and final round will be played in Cary, N.C. at the WakeMed Soccer Park.
