Men’s Soccer Visits Charleston for 2012 Regular Season Finale

STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern Men’s Soccer closes out the 2012 regular season on Saturday night at the College of Charleston. The finale match before postseason play begins starts at 7 p.m. from Charleston’s Patriots Point Soccer Stadium.
The Eagles have won two of their last three matches including victories over UNCG and Wofford. Southern ranks fifth in the 2012 Southern Conference standings with the chance to finish the season fourth. Conversely, GSU can also finish between fifth and eighth places entering the league tournament next weekend.
Joe Hughes leads the Georgia Southern offense with four goals. Rocco Bagley scored GSU’s goal against Furman on Tuesday night with a diving header to finish on a superb cross from Nick Lane.
Charleston leads the Southern Conference with a 4-1 league record and a 8-8 overall mark. The Cougars downed Davidson 5-0 last time out and are outscoring opponents 13-4 in league play. Sean de Silva has seven goals this year to pace the CofC offense while goalkeeper Kees Heemskerk has a 0.78 goals against average in conference games this year with two shutouts.
The Eagles will learn their fate for the SoCon Tournament once the final conference game is played on Tuesday, October 30th between Wofford and College of Charleston.
