STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Women's Tennis team continues fall competition at the Kennesaw Fall Classic Friday and Saturday. The two-day tournament will be held at Fair Oaks Tennis Center in Marietta, Ga.
The tournament is the third of the fall and the second for the full squad. Two Eagles competed at the ITA Southeast Regional in Tampa, Fla., last weekend. Paola Garrido (Vigo, Spain) picked up the lone win in the tournament with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Florida Atlantic's Natalia Tomaszewicz.
“The Southeast Region is one of the toughest regions in the country. The competition level is very high,” Head Coach Amy Bonner said. “I thought we competed very well and in each match we put things to work that we have been working on in practice.”
The Kennesaw Fall Classic will be just the second tournament of the fall as “most of the players haven't played since the first weekend in September,” Bonner said. “It will be nice to get everybody back on the court and see how we look after a month's worth of practice.”
The two-day event will consist of three rounds of singles and three rounds of doubles. Friday's slate of action consists of two rounds of doubles and a round of singles, and Saturday is the opposite with one round of doubles and two rounds of singles.
