Women's Tennis Wraps Up First Day of ITA Regional

TAMPA, Fla. - The Georgia Southern Women's Tennis team wrapped up the first day of competition at the ITA Southeast Regional at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts in Tampa, Fla. Friday afternoon.
The Eagles two participants, Paola Garrido (Vigo, Spain) and Jordana Klein (Alpharetta, Ga.) faced some tough competition in their opening matches but performed well.
Garrido and Klein opened the day in doubles play and fell to third-seeded Maho Kowase and Lilly Kimbell from Georgia 8-4 in a hard-fought match.
The Eagles lone win on the day came in singles play. Garrido defeated Natalia Tomaszewicz from Florida Atlantic 6-1, 6-2 to advance to face Georgia Tech's Elizabeth Kilborn, however, she fell 6-1, 6-2 in the second round.
Klein fell in her first singles match 6-2, 7-5 to North Florida's Rebeca Pereira. Klein will face Elizabeth Means from Florida Gulf Coast tomorrow at 9 a.m.
