STATESBORO, Ga. - After a successful fall debut for the 2012-13 Georgia Southern Women's Tennis at the Auburn Invitational, the Eagles return to the court at the ITA Regional Friday. Host of the Southeast region, South Florida will hold the four-day tournament at the USF Varsity Tennis Complex.
“I am taking Jordana and Paola this weekend. I think Jordana deserved to go because she had such a strong showing at Auburn,” Head Coach Amy Bonner, who serves as the Southeast Region's chairperson, said.
Klein highlighted GSU's first tournament with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Auburn's Lauren Levant in the singles of Flight 6. She also partnered with Natalie Maffett finish as a finalist in the Flight 4 doubles, while Garrido won the consolation bracket of Flight 1 singles and Flight 2 doubles.
“Jordana is a competitor no matter what the score is in the match. She is very focused and competes no matter where I put her or who she is playing,” Bonner said about the Murray State transfer. “She has been working hard over the past month. She and Paola have been playing doubles together to prepare for this tournament.”
The USTA/ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete at one of the 87 USTA/ITA Regional Championships held across the country.
