STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Lady Eagles wrap up a five-game homestand with the Chattanooga Lady Mocs Monday at 5 p.m. The Lady Eagles will face a tall task in the Lady Mocs, who are 4-0 in Southern Conference play.
Georgia Southern (5-9, 1-4) is looking to get back on track after their three-game win streak was snapped by Samford on Saturday. Down two points in the final four minutes, GSU dropped a 53-47 decision after the Bulldogs nailed 15 free throws in the final two minutes. Samford's Paige Anderson led all scorers with 23 points and hit three of the team's six three pointers. Anderson was the only Bulldog in double figures.
The Lady Eagles are led by Meredyth Frye's (Fredericksburg, Va.) 10.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest. She has scored in double figures in four-straight games including 11 points against the Bulldogs. MiMi DuBose (Jefferson, Ga.) leads the GSU three-point threat, which ranks seconds in the SoCon with a 35.1 three-point percentage, with 14 treys.
Chattanooga (9-4, 4-0) has remained perfect in conference play after a 58-44 win at the College of Charleston on Saturday. Whitney Hood, who leads the team with 12.0 points per game, scored a game-high 16 points in the victory. A 13-0 run over nearly six minutes late in the second half separated the Lady Mocs from the Cougars in the final stages of that contest.
Chattanooga, who leads the all-time series 29-17, ranks fourth in the league with 62.9 points per game and posts the league's best free throw percentage of 76.3. Kylie Lambert joins Hood in double figures with 10.2 points per game, while Kayla Christopher is just short of the double figures mark with 9.8 points per game.
