STATESBORO, Ga. - Friday afternoon's ribbon cutting ceremony officially opened Hanner Tennis Complex prior to the season opener for the Georgia Southern Men's Tennis team. Eagle Women's Tennis Coach Amy Bartlett Bonner, a Georgia Southern alum, welcomed everyone to the event and thanked individuals, departments and contractors for their support and efforts. Georgia Southern President Brooks Keel spoke to the gathered crowd about the commitment of the University to the success of Eagle coaches and student-athletes and how this world-class facility assists those efforts.
The major renovation of the main courts near Hanner Fieldhouse began last summer with a reconstruction of the facility. The project included the addition of spectator seating near the courts, resurfacing of the playing area, installation of time-controlled gates and lights, and new windscreens.
The Hanner Tennis Complex includes six main courts and four back courts for use by the Eagle Tennis teams for competition and practice. The courts are also used for physical education classes and recreation by Georgia Southern students, faculty and staff.
