Statesboro, Ga. - Men's Soccer forward Witt Carlisle scored the final two goals in last year's season opener, propelling the Eagles to a 4-3 victory. They would be the first and last shots the sophomore would take all season, however, after an injury forced him to the sidelines for the remainder of the year.
Returning to the pitch in 2011, Carlisle wasted no time in making his presence felt, scoring two goals and an assist in the Eagle's 5-0 opening day win at North Florida. The Eagle forward is excited about the new season and glad to be back on the field with his teammates.
"Getting injured was really a heartbreaker, but it's great to be back," said Carlisle, "I feel at home when I'm on the field. I love being able to help my teammates and will do whatever is needed for my team to succeed."
Carlisle has also excelled off the field, maintaining a 3.3 GPA while serving on the Student-Athlete Advisory Board.
"Witt is an outstanding student-athlete here at Georgia Southern, and a young man of exceptional character," said Head Coach Kevin Kennedy. "I'm so proud of our team members who are able to successfully balance the workload of athletics and academics at the Division I level and Witt is a great representation of this."
