Kelly Burnett Named SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Georgia Southern Softball's Kelly Burnett has been named Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for May 4th, as announced today by the league office. The Boynton Beach, Fla., native graduated in December with her degree in Early Childhood Education and hit .714 last weekend against Chattanooga.
Burnett was 5-for-7 in the three-game series, which included her second home run of the season in the final game of the regular season on Sunday, May 1st. She also scored two runs and posted a 1.143 slugging percentage.
In the classroom, Burnett owns a 3.67 GPA and began working on her Master's Degree in Education this spring.
Georgia Southern Softball returns to action on Wednesday, May 11th, in the 2011 Southern Conference Softball Championship which will be held at Eagle Field in Statesboro, Ga. The tournament bracket will be announced on Monday, May 9th.
