Men's Tennis Adds Three Signees to Class

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Men's Tennis Coach Nick Zieziula announced the signing of three student-athletes who will enroll at Georgia Southern and play for the Eagles beginning in the fall of 2011. Kyle Hoffman, Albert Codina Sala and Andrew Dromsky join Carson Jones as members of the 2011 Georgia Southern signing class.

"We are very excited about these three additions for next fall," said Head Coach Nick Zieziula. "All three of these young men bring great experience and training backgrounds, but most importantly they still have a lot of room to continue to grow and develop once they get into our program."

Kyle Hoffman, a four-star recruit from Sarasota, Fla., is ranked as the No. 22 senior in the state of Florida and 177th nationally according to Tennisrecruiting.net. Hoffman is ranked 23rd in Florida for 18 years and under and 239th in the nation for U-18s according to the United States Tennis Association (USTA) rankings.

"Kyle has proven himself by competing in one of the best tennis states in the nation," Zieziula said. "He has the ability to attack and finish at the net, along with the ability to play solid defense when he needs it. His versatility on court will help him contribute in both singles and doubles."

Andrew Dromsky comes to Georgia Southern by way of Lakeside High School in Augusta, Ga. While at Lakeside, Dromsky helped guide the Panthers to final four appearances in the state tournament his sophomore and junior years. Tennisrecruiting.net lists Dromsky as a two-star recruit and 26th in the Georgia senior class. Dromsky's USTA ranking is 22nd for U-18s.

"Andrew has great offensive weapons with his serve, forehand and volleys, but he also moves very well for a big guy which is going to give him unlimited potential in college," said Zieziula.

From Manresa, Spain, Albert Codina Sala is ranked 192nd in the Spanish Men's National Open rankings. Codina Sala, playing International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures Events in preparation for his collegiate career, has victories over several players in the Men's National Open top-100 rankings in Spain. Codina Sala played at Lluís de Peguera.

"Albert has grown up competing in and around Barcelona, which is a very deep tennis region," Zieziula said. "His experience consistently competing against top level talent in both juniors and in men's open tournaments will be an asset immediately."

The trio joins Carson Jones, who signed a national letter of intent in the fall. Jones is the number-nine ranked senior in the state of Georgia and 177th in the nation. Tennisrecruiting.net rates Jones as a four-star recruit. Jones will be a second-generation GSU tennis player as his father, Craig, played for the Eagles in 1981 and 1982.

"Along with Carson, these three student-athletes are going to give us a lot of depth next year and give us the opportunity to reach our goal of winning Southern Conference regular season and tournament championships," said Zieziula.
